Maurice Blackburn Lawyers have established a presence in
Melbourne's north with the firm basing a number of staff at a new
Greensborough office in preparation for its class action into the
Kinglake Kilmore East bushfire.
Maurice Blackburn principal Liberty Sanger said the new office would
be the firm's 11th permanent Victorian office and the 25th
nationally.
"We are representing more than 1100 bushfire affected victims in a
class action against SPI Electricity Pty Ltd and the case is
proceeding well," Ms Sanger said.
"A number of staff working on the bushfires class action will be
based in the new Greensborough office which is located near the
bushfire affected region.
"The new office will provide legal services to more Victorians
closer to where they live and Maurice Blackburn is representing
some bushfire victims in separate compensation claims related to
the Black Saturday fires."
The office will be staffed by senior associates Salvatore Giandinoto and Carolyn Kovac
who are both specialist accredited lawyers by the Law Institute of
Victoria.
"We will be offering a broad suite of legal services including
WorkCover and TAC and the firm acts for people who have suffered
from medical negligence and others seeking damages through common
law applications," Ms Sanger said.
"Maurice Blackburn also has the largest superannuation and
insurance practice in Australia and will be bringing its expertise
in this area to the region.

recovering many millions of dollars from insurance companies and
superannuation funds.
