Maurice Blackburn and Canberra firm Pamela
Coward Higgins have merged, effective from Wednesday 30 September
2009.
Maurice Blackburn Chief Executive Officer, Greg
Tucker, said that the merger would create one of the largest
plaintiff law practices in the ACT, bringing together the
specialist expertise of the two firms.
"Maurice Blackburn and Pamela Coward Higgins
have a rich history in defending the rights of workers and fighting
for social justice, we believe that this merger will enable us to
provide a greater, more specialised service to the people of the
Australian Capital Territory," Mr Tucker said.
Ms Thena Kyprianou from Pamela Coward Higgins,
said that the merger provided an opportunity to increase its
strength and depth in the plaintiff law sector, particularly as the
firm would now have a national reach.
Effective from 30 September 2009, this merger
will see Maurice Blackburn's staff from Canberra join the legal
staff from Pamela Coward Higgins office, in Alinga St
Canberra. The practice will continue to provide advice for:
Work Related Injuries, Road Accident Injuries, Asbestos Diseases,
Medical Negligence, Public Liability, Industrial and Employment
Law, Superannuation and Insurance Disputes and Commercial Advisory
Services.

strengthened its expertise through mergers with other legal firms
and has also doubled the number of our offices to ensure that we
can better service local communities.
