Shane Knight Statement
The Family has waited over two years for the Coronial Inquest to
take place.
To have the Mine just withdraw from the Inquest on the first day
has been devastating.
This is our only chance to find the truth.
I can't understand why they don't want to fully participate in
the Inquest.
I am extremely disappointed that the Mine has withdrawn from the
hearing.
We sat in Court for two hours to hear the Mine's opening.
For the Mine and its representatives to walk out before our lawyers
had even made a statement to the Court - was deeply
disappointing.
I felt that the Beaconsfield Mine turned its back on the Knight
family when they walked out of the Court.
Beaconsfield Mine in July this year, tried to convince the
Coroner that an inquest was not necessary. Having failed to
convince the Coroner of this argument, the Mine has simply
withdrawn from full participation in the Inquest.
Despite this, we will make every effort to assist the Coroner
reach his decision.
