Carolyn Kovac is a Principal in Maurice Blackburn’s Greensborough office. She is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Personal Injury Specialist, with 12 years’ experience in motor vehicle accident law and TAC claims.

Carolyn has been helping people with personal injury law compensation claims, particularly in the areas of WorkCover and TAC, since 2003. Joining Maurice Blackburn in 2007, she became an Associate the following year and was promoted to Principal in 2014.

“I represent people who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents and have had their whole world turned upside down. I have helped many vulnerable but strong clients fight the TAC. A motor vehicle accident affects not only my clients but their partners, children and other family members. It is a privilege being a witness to and being part of their journey to independence following on from life changing injuries,” says Carolyn.

Initially drawn to the law by her determination to ensure a fair go for ordinary people facing difficult and unfair situations, Carolyn believes strongly in the firm’s values and in the capacity of the law to ensure justice. She is passionate about being able to assist people who have suffered due to motor vehicle accidents and is determined to ensure that her clients receive their full rights and entitlements.

“I always wanted to use my law degree to help real people and to make a difference to their lives, but in the end I think it’s my clients that are my true inspiration. I am continually amazed and humbled by their strength and tenacity, despite what life has thrown at them, and often in some truly dreadful circumstances; and it’s that strength of spirit that really pushes me to fight harder.”

Carolyn also understands that recovery from injury is often about more than compensation, and ensures that her clients receive all the support they need: from the firm, from medical professionals, and from their insurers. Carolyn’s extensive knowledge of Victorian TAC claims law means that she is able to ensure that her clients obtain the fullest benefit as quickly as possible. She is a highly experienced litigator and an effective negotiator who is able to assess and pursue the best path of action for each individual client.

Carolyn is the author of the TAC volume in the Lexis Nexis legal text Motor & Traffic Law. She is currently on parental leave.
