Andy Finlay is a Consultant in the Canberra office of Maurice
Blackburn (previously Pamela Coward Higgins). He has a Bachelor of
Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Monash University and was admitted
to practice in the Victorian Supreme Court in 1973.
Andy specialises in personal injury, sport and employment law
practicing primarily in the ACT Magistrates and Supreme Court and
the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Previously, Andy
practiced for 10 years in Warrnambool, Western Victoria, including
six years as a partner with McKay Taylor & Co between 1976 and
1981. From 1981 to 1983, he worked with Crossin & Co, then as
Senior Legal Officer with the Department of Veteran Affairs from
1983 to 1986.
Between 1988 and 1995 he was an instructor at the Legal Workshop
of the Australian National University teaching civil litigation,
property and administrative law and obtained a Bachelor of
Education from University of Canberra in 1998.
Andy was senior coach of the Marist College First XVII 1996-2005.
He was a member of the CLE Committee of the ACT Law Society for
eight years and has been a visiting lecturer in Administrative Law
at the Leo Cussen Institute since 1989.
