Maurice Blackburn’s Michelle James wins top law award
21 October 2013
Maurice Blackburn Lawyers have today congratulated Principal Michelle James on receiving the Queensland Law Society's Agnes McWhinney Award on Saturday night.
The award acknowledges outstanding professional or community contribution by a woman lawyer who has practised as a solicitor.
Maurice Blackburn Managing Principal Rod Hodgson said the firm was proud of Ms James' achievement and contribution to the profession.
"It is fitting that Michelle has received an award named in honour of Queensland's first woman solicitor," Mr Hodgson said.
"Like Agnes, she is a remarkable solicitor, with confidence in her own ability, who is determined to succeed for her clients.
"Michelle's service to her community has been invaluable and she is a very worthy recipient of such an honour within our profession," he said.
Ms James accepted the award at the Women Lawyers' Association of Queensland Award Dinner on Saturday 19 October 2013 at Brisbane City Hall.
A transcript of her brief acceptance remarks can be found here.
