Prominent Gippsland law firm Maurice Blackburn is under new leadership with lawyer Gino Andrieri recently taking over the reins at its Traralgon headquarters.
Gino Andrieri, a principal of Maurice Blackburn, has been with the firm for more than 12 years, starting his legal career in Dandenong before moving to Rockhampton to manage the firm's central Queensland work.
Mr Andrieri says he is not only looking forward to leading the firm's personal injury work across the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland area, but also to settling into life in Traralgon.
"As a Victorian born and bred, it's great to be back practising as a lawyer in my home state," he said.
"I was in Rockhampton for almost five years and in that time grew to love the benefits of regional living. So when the offer came to move to Traralgon, it was an easy decision to make.
"I enjoy the great sense of community in a regional town, and my family and I are looking forward to becoming a part of this community and exploring some of the delights of the region".
Mr Andrieri has already hit the ground running with his community involvement, having recently been appointed to the Gippsland Soccer League board on a 12-month secondment.
His previous career highlights include campaigning for the rights of flood affected victims in Rockhampton and Emerald during the 2011 floods, and lobbying the Queensland Government for changes to real estate agency laws. He is also a past president of the Central Queensland Law Association.
Maurice Blackburn has had a presence in Gippsland for more than two decades. The firm's work includes helping Gippsland locals with road injury claims, WorkCover, public liability, medical negligence, asbestos diseases and superannuation.
The firm's Traralgon team also visit Bairnsdale, Sale, Morwell and Warragul on a regular basis so clients who live in those areas can access legal services closer to home.
