The North East Law Association of the Law Institute of Victoria has re-elected Wangaratta lawyer Danny Frigerio as its president.
Mr Frigerio, principal of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers’ Wangaratta office, was last Friday re-elected unopposed by the association for another one-year term.
A Wangaratta local, Mr Frigerio says it is a privilege to serve as association president for the second year in a row.
He said the association will continue its important work to support the legal sector, with a particular focus on encouraging greater participation and representation from across the entire north-east region.
“The association provides representation, training and support for lawyers, paralegals, trainee lawyers and law students in the north-east, who have different needs from their colleagues in other parts of Victoria,” he said.
“This year we’ve had meetings in a range of places including Wangaratta, Wodonga and Myrtleford, because we want to make sure the association is truly representative of the entire north-east region, not just one area.”
“Over the past 12 months we have also worked hard as an association to establish rules for our own governance to improve clarity and transparency about the workings of the association.”
Other association achievements for 2014 include providing training and networking opportunities for members, and running free health checks for the community as part of Law Week activities.
The North East Law Association of the Law Institute of Victoria covers Wangaratta, Yarrawonga, Rutherglen, Wodonga, Beechworth, Myrtleford, Bright and Benalla.
