Award-winning national social justice law firm Maurice Blackburn will soon open two new offices to accommodate double digit growth and increasing demand for its legal services, CEO Greg Tucker announced today.
Prominent South Australian personal injuries specialist Tony Kerin has been appointed to head up Maurice Blackburn’s new South Australian office and begins with the firm on 30 March 2015. The firm will also open a new WA office in Perth headed by current WA managing principal Phil Gleeson.
Mr Kerin has held senior roles in major Adelaide firms over the past 30 years and has practised in a range of specialties including workers compensation, employment law and medical negligence.
“I’m very much looking forward to joining a firm with a proud history of looking after rights of injured people and ensuring that they receive all they are entitled to under the law,” said Mr Kerin.
Mr Kerin has played a prominent role in the Australian Lawyers Alliance over the past decade as state president, national president and is currently the South Australian Director.
Greg Tucker, Maurice Blackburn CEO said the opening of an Adelaide office was a logical step for the firm which has already acted for hundreds of South Australians who have suffered injuries.
“Tony Kerin has deep understanding of the legal landscape in South Australia and we are thrilled to have him as part of our leadership team.”
Maurice Blackburn CEO Greg Tucker said the firm was continuing its pattern of sustained growth and was looking to expand further over the next 12 months.
Organic growth, strong emphasis on client service and high levels of staff engagement have underpinned our success over the past five years. Our growth strategy centres firmly on investing in human capital, not via acquisitions or take overs,” said Mr Tucker.
“We are known for our values, culture and providing high quality, specialist legal services.”
“The performance of existing offices has been outstanding and we have moved into new premises or expanded existing ones in a number of places including Perth, Geelong, Rockhampton and Sunshine said Mr Tucker.
Staffing levels and the number of new clients has continued to climb with the number of employees rising by 33% from 639 in 2011 to 854 at March 2015. Total number of principals now stands at 42.
Our latest client survey reveals very high satisfaction rates with our service. Similarly our latest staff survey results show a staff engagement level of 77% which far exceeds the law industry norm of 67% and is in the top 10% of all employers as measured by AON Hewitt,” said Mr Tucker.
Maurice Blackburn will now have 29 permanent and 26 visiting offices in Victoria, Qld, NSW, WA, SA and ACT. Offices are in city, suburban and regional locations.
