If you’ve been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, access to the right information is crucial to you and your family's understanding of your illness. Maurice Blackburn supports several asbestos-related community groups and publications.

Support Services

Asbestoswise provides information, support, advocacy, education and awareness to the community focusing on people with an asbestos-related disease (ARD).

Gippsland Asbestos Related Disease Support (GARDS) is a non-profit, non-government, voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting the victims of asbestos and their families. GARDS also works to raise the level of asbestos awareness in the community, industry and at all levels of government.

The Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma Support Group is a non-profit cancer support group for people in the ACT with lung cancer or mesothelioma and/or their families and friends. Lung Foundation Australia provides support to patients and carers burdened by lung disease and ensures lung health is a priority for everyone in Australia. Maurice Blackburn is proud to be a Foundation Partner of the Lung Foundation in supporting their goal of generating awareness about the importance of positive lung health in the community.

The Thoracic Society of Australia and NZ leads, supports and enables all health workers and researchers who aim to prevent, cure and relieve disability caused by lung disease.

Asbestos Diseases Research Institute aims to improve the prevention, the diagnosis and treatment of asbestos-related diseases.

The Bernie Banton Foundation carries on Bernie's legacy of advocating for the rights of asbestos related disease sufferers and creating awareness about the dangers of asbestos.

The Asbestos Support North Queensland provides support for people affected by asbestos diseases and their families, as well as community education. More information is available by contacting group co-ordinator Annette Shepphard on 0429 392 039 or email.

Biaggio Signiorelli Foundation is devoted to finding early detection, treatment, care and ultimately a cure for mesothelioma.
