Originally from Iraq, Beengul's parents had to seek refuge in another country when she was only two years old due to war and political instability. Having stateless status deprived Beengul and her family of basic human rights and they faced various forms of discrimination and injustice. She had no choice but to accept this, despite having strong urge to stand up for her family and others in a similar situation.
“There is no better feeling than achieving successful outcome for clients who have been wronged through no fault of their own. I have a strong passion for access to justice for vulnerable members of our community and I strive to ensure they get full access to their lawful entitlements.”
Beengul credits joining Maurice Blackburn as a turning point in her life, and one that has enabled her to stand and fight for fair for people from all walks of life who also experience injustice. She is also an active member of Maurice Blackburn’s Cultural Diversity Group.
