Carla Melbourne is a personal injuries lawyer in Maurice Blackburn’s Rockhampton office. She helps people with WorkCover, CTP and public liability compensation claims.
Born in Rockhampton, Carla first joined our firm as a paralegal in our medical negligence practice while completing her university studies. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland.
Carla describes herself as someone who gets a buzz out of helping others, and she was driven to study law so she could help people in her local community.
“I am particularly interested in working one-on-one with those in need and providing them with access to information to make a difference to their lives,” says Carla.
“I fundamentally believe that people deserve to go to work and to come home safely. If this doesn’t occur, workers and their families should be provided with support and compensation that recognises the true effects of their injuries. I enjoy fighting for what I believe in and overcoming the challenges that come with taking on big insurers.
“I am inspired by my clients’ resilience and determination in adverse circumstances. It drives me to work harder to achieve the outcomes that they deserve.”
Carla understands that sometimes clients aren’t able to come into the office, so she is able to visit them at home or in our visiting office in Gladstone in addition to Rockhampton.
Outside of Maurice Blackburn, Carla is a volunteer at the Central Queensland Community Legal Centre.
