Craig Parrish is a Principal Lawyer and State Litigation Leader in our superannuation and insurance team in Sydney.
Craig spent his first five years at Maurice Blackburn representing injured workers in compensation claims under the Victorian WorkCover scheme. Since then, his focus has been on assisting people in disputes with their superannuation funds and insurers. He also assists people, who have lost savings due to poor financial or professional advice, to make claims against institutions and professionals across New South Wales and Victoria.
"I was attracted to practicing law because I knew it would give me the opportunity to advocate on behalf of people who really need it. As a lawyer I can make a tangible difference in my clients' lives. I am passionate about getting a fair outcome for my clients by pursuing all possible legal entitlements, while providing clear, honest and tailored advice at all stages throughout the process. I care about fighting for change and delivering practical outcomes for people.
"The most rewarding part of my work is being entrusted to help my clients navigate the legal system towards the best possible outcome. I take the trust that my clients place in me very seriously."
Outside of his superannuation and insurance work, Craig is also involved in Maurice Blackburn’s social justice practice. He is passionate about cases which raise questions of how the law interacts with mental health and disability. His social justice work has included acting for:
- a refugee in a claim for damages for psychiatric harm suffered whilst in a detention centre.
- the family of an intellectually disabled man, in a dispute before the courts, arising out of his management in a group home.
Craig has volunteered at the Mental Health Legal Centre, the Whittlesea Community Legal Centre, the Diamond Valley Legal Service and Victoria Legal Aid.
