Daniel Opare is a medical negligence lawyer in Maurice Blackburn’s Melbourne office. He also sees clients in our Geelong office.
Daniel holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Arts from Deakin University. He started working at Maurice Blackburn in 2012, first as a paralegal, then as a trainee lawyer. Daniel gained experience in medical malpractice law during this time before being admitted to practice in 2016.
Daniel has been involved a number of significant cases since starting in our medical negligence practice. These include large settlements for a catastrophic birth injury, a delay in diagnosis of cancer, and Coronial inquests.
“I have always had a keen interest in medicine, as it is something that impacts upon the lives of all Australians,” says Daniel.
“We place great trust in our healthcare system and when failures occur, the outcome can be devastating. Practicing in medical negligence allows me to pursue my passion for the law in a way that can make a real difference for people who have been injured through no fault of their own.”
Daniel brings empathy and determination to his work with clients and combines this with determination to get the best possible outcome for clients in this specialist and complex area of law.
A strong interest in social justice has seen Daniel devote time to volunteering for community-based services such as the Consumer Law Action Centre, Springvale Monash Legal Service and Youth Law.He is also a volunteer at the HeLP Clinic at the Alfred Hospital – an initiative of Maurice Blackburn, The Alfred Hospital and the Michael Kirby Centre for Public Health and Human Rights at Monash University.
