Emily Anderson is a WorkCover Senior Associate and the Regional Office Leader of Maurice Blackburn’s Dandenong office. She is an experienced personal injury law specialist, who is passionate about protecting the rights of workers and achieving fair outcomes for clients.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Law from the University of Melbourne, and was admitted to practice law in 2005.

She was led to practice personal injury compensation law by a desire to fight for the rights of injured workers who come up against well-resourced insurance companies.

“I am inspired by the resilience and courage of clients whose lives have been derailed by injury suffered at work,” says Emily.

Emily is driven to ensure these clients have access to all their entitlements. She is inspired by the challenge of fighting to achieve fair outcomes for clients within the restrictions of the Victorian WorkCover scheme. Emily previously provided legal advice and represented people injured in motor vehicle accidents who made claims through the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) in Victoria.

“For me, the most rewarding aspect of my work is in obtaining fair outcomes for clients whose claims for reasonable compensation have previously been denied by the WorkCover insurer.”

Emily has vast experience acting for clients who have been injured in the course of their employment, and in obtaining compensation for the losses they have suffered. She has successfully represented clients in the Accident Compensation Conciliation Service, and before the Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Supreme Court.

As well as having represented hundreds of clients in personal injury claims, Emily is actively involved in policy and lobbying work to ensure that the rights of injured people are not eroded by insurers or government. To this end, she holds a number of leadership positions in the legal industry, including Australian Lawyers Alliance Victorian President.

Emily has been widely published, including in the Law Institute Journal (Victoria). She has also presented conference papers at state and national legal conferences; and has been featured on national radio programs discussing legal issues.

Emily is currently on parental leave.
