Erica Dobson is a medical negligence Senior Associate practising in Maurice Blackburn’s Perth office. She helps people seeking legal advice and representation for medical malpractice compensation claims.
Erica joined Maurice Blackburn in 2009 as a paralegal in medical negligence. She graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005, and continued studying while she was working, receiving a Bachelor of Laws from La Trobe University in 2010. Erica also recently completed a Masters of Health and Medical Law at Melbourne University. Following her legal training at Maurice Blackburn, Erica was admitted to practice in 2011, and was promoted to Associate and relocated to Perth in 2013.
A determined and empathic lawyer, Erica is passionate about providing access to justice for her clients and fighting for the rights of people who are injured due to negligence on the part of others. Her commitment to helping disadvantaged people is coupled with a keen desire to help people regain their independence following injury.
“I am inspired by seeing how people can come back after life-altering injuries, and by seeing the difference that compensation can make for people; how it can improve their independence and enjoyment of life despite their injuries. I'm proud that my work can play a part in that recovery,” says Erica.
Her interest in medical issues and exposure to the things that can go wrong during medical treatment led her choice of career and her determination to secure appropriate compensation for people who have been injured as a result of poor medical care.
“The most rewarding aspect of my work is being able to help people access the compensation that assists in rebuilding their lives after suffering injury.”
Erica is currently on parental leave.
