Gino Andrieri is a Principal and manager of Maurice Blackburn's Dandenong office. He is a Law Institute of Victoria Personal Injury Accredited Specialist with extensive experience in personal injury law, including WorkCover and TAC claims.

Gino is passionate about defending the rights of working people in the Greater Dandenong area. He enjoys fighting for fair outcomes for his clients and obtaining entitlements and compensation for clients that they were initially denied.

“It is rewarding to achieve a sense of closure and a measure of justice for clients who have been injured through no fault of their own,” says Gino.

“Working in compensation law at Maurice Blackburn allows me, on a daily basis, to hear the varied life experiences of people which provides me with a great sense of perspective.“

Gino has worked with Maurice Blackburn since 2002 in Dandenong, Rockhampton and Traralgon.

“The people I represent often depend on a steady wage coming through and when that is taken away from them, usually through no fault of their own, their entire lives are turned upside down. That can have a tremendous impact on families, and I see first-hand how their lives are affected. My job is to assist them through the maze of the compensation system.”

Gino commonly deals with injuries ranging from spinal damage, dislocations, breaks and head injuries. Aside from the obvious physical effects of injuries, he says it is the psychological impact that can hurt the most.

“The psychological toll that comes with an injury can be quite significant. A prime example is when mortgage payments quickly go into arrears, it is not unusual to see clients unable to pay for basics like school fees or excursions for their kids which can be particularly depressing.

“I have always felt strongly about social justice. Always. And here at Maurice Blackburn we do mean it. It isn’t just a mission statement. The concept of community and broader social justice responsibilities is something we take a lot of pride in.”

While in Queensland, Gino campaigned for the rights of flood affected victims in Rockhampton and Emerald during the 2011 floods and lobbied the State Government for changes to real estate agency laws.

“I represented the family of a seven-week-old child who died after falling through a rotted deck in a rental home in Yeppoon. The case resulted in strong recommendations for change in the rental industry to ensure that a tragedy like that one could not happen again. I was proud to have been involved in an outcome that helped a family come to terms with a death and know that other people would be safer because they spoke up.”

Gino moved to Traralgon in 2013, and supported various local community and legal groups including assisting the investigation into a potential class action arising from the Hazelwood Mine Fire in Morwell. He returned to Dandenong in 2017.

Gino is also a keen follower of football and fanatical supporter of the Bombers and Melbourne City.
