Jessica McAvoy is a WorkCover Associate in Maurice Blackburn’s Ringwood office. She also helps clients with TAC and public liability compensation claims.
Jessica is a hard-working and socially conscious lawyer with more than five years’ experience in personal injury law. Graduating with Honours in Arts and a Bachelor of Law, she chose personal injury law because of her commitment to equity and social justice, together with a desire to support people in understanding their rights and demystifying the law. She has particular expertise in general litigation, especially in statutory benefits, pre-litigated and litigated common law claims.
“When a case concludes successfully it is hugely satisfying to see my client’s heart-felt appreciation, and also to reflect on the great result that our investment of time and hard work has achieved,” says Jessica.
Jessica advocates for injured workers, particularly those from marginalised and disadvantaged groups, and pushes to achieve results that will aid her client’s recovery and financial security. She is inspired in her work by the opportunities offered by each client’s unique situation and finds these a great motivator to test and push the boundaries of law to achieve the best possible outcome.
“Sometimes my clients have been forced into a destitute situation because of a workplace injury, which can be emotionally challenging for everyone involved. So I use this challenge to push myself further to achieve a result that will make a real difference for these clients.”
