Joan Fitzpatrick joined the Maurice Blackburn Board as a Non-Executive member in June 2017.
Joan has more than 35 years of commercial business experience, including 20 years as a director and CEO of large multi-national companies and as a Board member of financial and superannuation organisations. She has also served on the Board of numerous not-for profits and charities in Australia, and continues to hold many director and Board member positions in the financial services and business sectors.
Joan qualified as a lawyer and barrister in England, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Among her many skills, Joan brings strategy, governance, risk management, financial and people skills to the Maurice Blackburn Board.
Joan was attracted to Maurice Blackburn because of our “values, social justice focus and great culture”.
“I grew up in Northern Ireland, where I experienced discrimination, bigotry and injustice first-hand,” says Joan.
“My childhood experience has led to me being strongly against any form of prejudice and racism.
“As a result, my social justice values are very much aligned with those of Maurice Blackburn.
“I am delighted to be part of the Board that will continue to lead the great work of the firm as we meet the challenges of a changing world of work and a pressing need for innovative and agile responses to our customers evolving needs.
