Joshua Boyes is an Associate in Maurice Blackburn’s Melbourne office, and has gained significant experience in superannuation and disability insurance legal claims since starting with the firm in 2011.
Admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Victoria in September 2014, Joshua completed his Law degree in 2012 through Deakin University, followed by his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from ANU.
“I'm inspired by the opportunity to work in a firm with a real history and culture of success in the sort of cases that matter most to the wider community. To gain the advantage for people that are vulnerable and being taken advantage of, and to lend a helping hand in the continuing fight for fair,” says Joshua.
His experience means he is able to help people successfully resolve complex superannuation and insurance claims for his clients.
“I am determined to ensure that my clients get everything they’re entitled to. There is still a great fight when claiming on people’s superannuation insurance. Far too many benefits simply go unclaimed because people aren’t aware of their rights and entitlements. What’s even worse are claims which aren’t paid because sometimes companies make it so hard that people give up. This is probably the most challenging part of my job, and it’s where my tenacious nature really comes to the fore.”
Josh has also been involved with social justice activities for many years: from volunteering at legal clinics for asylum seekers and others in community legal centres, to participating in events and meetings to aid the interests for disability support groups and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rights and Reconciliation initiatives.
