Kate Mallinson is a lawyer and financial planner working in financial advice disputes in our Greensborough office.

She is currently acting for clients who have suffered negligent financial planning and stockbroking advice. Her clients include people in the Commonwealth Bank Open Advice Review Program and the Macquarie Private Wealth compensation scheme.

“Money is something that can cause a lot of tension and heartache in families and relationships, especially when things don’t go to plan with investments,” says Kate.

“I appreciate the mental anguish that can arise when people lose their life savings due to poor financial planning advice, and I find it rewarding to create a good rapport with clients so they feel comfortable to discuss their financial disputes with me.

“I am passionate about financial literacy and feel a great sense of injustice when hearing stories from clients about the inappropriate financial advice they have been given, and this drives me to fight for the best outcome for my clients.

“The financial planning industry is currently undergoing a much needed change, and it is exciting to be involved in the industry at this time.

In addition to having a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Arts, Kate holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and a Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing. Prior to practising in the financial advice disputes area, Kate worked in criminal defence law.

Kate volunteers in a legal clinic to support asylum seekers.
