Naomi Hatcher is an employment and industrial relations lawyer in Maurice Blackburn’s Brisbane office. She provides legal services to employees throughout Queensland.
Naomi is a passionate and committed lawyer with a keen interest in social justice. She has excellent critical thinking and legal research skills which enable her to provide legal and strategic advice to ensure clients achieve their preferred outcome. Naomi works intelligently and efficiently to achieve the desired outcome for her clients. She understands that her clients’ reputations are at stake and that they often want to address their legal issues quickly and confidentially.
“For a lot of people, their identity can be defined by their work. Unfortunately, the balance between employers and employees is grossly disproportionate. In the face of this power imbalance, practising in employment law makes workers’ rights real, and allows me to fight to achieve fair outcomes,” says Naomi.
“I have found the most rewarding part of my work is to give someone the courage to stand up in the future, and increase their access to the justice system.
“Every case involves a unique and highly personal story. I have found that what goes on in the workplace has a serious effect on people’s lives. I am driven to tip the scale to give workers more of a chance to achieve a fair outcome.”
Naomi holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. She was admitted to practice in 2015 and also has experience in class actions law. Naomi previously volunteered at Caxton Legal Centre, helping to provide legal and social welfare services to low income and disadvantaged persons in need of relief from poverty, distress, misfortune, destitution and helplessness, and to educate such people in legal, social welfare and related matters.
