Patrick Sheehan is a personal injury lawyer in Maurice Blackburn’s Reservoir office. He helps clients with WorkCover compensation claims.
Patrick started his career with Maurice Blackburn in our superannuation department, so he also has a thorough understanding of how clients can maximise their compensation legal entitlements.
Patrick holds Bachelor degrees in Laws and International Relations, and was admitted to practice in 2015. He is a determined and resourceful solicitor who is inspired by the knowledge that he is using his education and abilities to help people who find themselves at a very difficult point in their lives, and when needed, to help them fight back. Patrick is a highly skilled and effective negotiator with valuable political experience.
“I chose to practice in WorkCover because I wanted to give injured workers the knowledge and means to protect what they are entitled to under the law. The opportunity to be an advocate for working people who have suffered terrible injuries, or endured poor treatment through no fault of their own, is the best part of my job,” says Patrick.
“The most challenging part of my work, and the thing that also inspires and challenges me to fight harder, is hearing stories of people struggling because of their injury, and hearing how their injury affects their life and their family. This can be incredibly difficult but it is also the thing that really makes me push harder against the unfairness inherent in the system.”
Before joining Maurice Blackburn, Patrick was General Secretary of the National Union of Students and worked for federal and state Labor members of parliament.
