It’s Peter Koutsoukis’ mix of local and international experience as a lawyer and leader that stands him apart. Peter is a Principal and Board member at Maurice Blackburn. He heads up the Victorian Injuries Practice, and is listed by the prestigious Doyle's Guide as a lawyer of note.

“My career with the firm has primarily been in litigation, assisting people who are injured usually as a result of corporate misconduct. Working at Maurice Blackburn has provided immense pride and satisfaction working with those that share my values, particularly trade unions and their members, in wanting to make Australia a better place for its people.”

One of Peter’s key strengths is in business development, and he has overseen the establishment of the firm’s offices in Dandenong, Victoria, and started the Queensland practice in Brisbane in 1998. In 2007, Peter relocated his family from Queensland to Dublin, Ireland, to set up a litigation funding business indirectly associated with Maurice Blackburn. The funding business is currently underwriting several cases including the first pan-European anti-cartel case ever conducted in Europe on behalf of European victims through the courts of the Netherlands.

After leading the National Superannuation Department from 2015 to 2018, Peter now heads up the Victorian Injuries Practice. Peter has a special interest in advancing the rights of cyclists being a keen cyclist himself. Peter will continue to fight for all persons injured as a result of individual or corporate wrongdoing.

“I became a lawyer because I wanted to effect social change and I’m continually inspired by the firm fighting for worthy causes.”

Peter’s leadership roles have also included serving on various Victorian and Queensland Law Society committees. He is a passionate supporter of the Arsenal Football Club.
