Rene Flores is a Principal Lawyer and the Regional Office Leader for Maurice Blackburn’s legal practice in Townsville. He has more than 10 years’ experience as a lawyer practising in regional Queensland.
In 2007, Rene graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, and a year later he started practising in WorkCover, CTP and public liability compensation claims. Rene’s passion to achieve justice for everyday Australians saw him join Maurice Blackburn in 2014.
Rene was drawn to practice law by a passion for standing up for people who, through no fault of their own, have been injured by another’s wrong doing. He remains driven to ensure that clients are fairly treated in exercising their legal rights, and to protect these rights from erosion by governments and special interests.
“Law reform is the most challenging part of our work. The governments are keen to take more and more rights away from people and – without us – these people would often not have a voice,” says Rene.
Rene finds dealing with his clients on a day-to-day basis among the most rewarding aspects of his role. He is continually engaged by gaining a better understanding of the challenges that his clients face in their everyday lives, whether because of their injuries, or their poor treatment by employers and insurance companies. He is irrevocably committed to achieving outcomes that can compensate people for their suffering, and support the next stage of their lives.
