Rob Coen is a General Counsel in Maurice Blackburn’s Canberra office, practicing in the areas of workers’ compensation, road accident injuries and public liability law. He is a highly experienced lawyer, with a strong track record across a diverse range of cases including injury and general litigation, over more than 26 years.
Before moving to private practice, Rob spent two years in the public service. He has degrees in Economics and Law from the Australian National University. He was drawn to practice personal injury law by a belief in the ability of the law to deliver justice to people who have been damaged by the actions or negligence of others, coupled with a sincere desire to help people recover their lives after such injury.
“I love helping people who have been injured in a car accident or at work, to face and overcome the uncertainties posed by the compensation system, by removing the mystery and acting as their advocate to obtain fair compensation,” says Rob.
Rob has a significant depth of knowledge of the relevant systems for claiming compensation in the ACT, together with a solid reputation for fighting tenaciously and successfully for his clients. He has a particular interest in workplace injuries and enjoys 'taking it to' defendant insurance companies on behalf of his clients.
With his significant history in injury and compensation law, Rob understands that recovering from injury is about more than compensation, and he is determined to ensure that his clients receive the most complete level of support.
“I go the extra mile to safeguard the best interests of my clients and to fight for fair compensation. I’m determined to ensure my clients receive everything they need to be able to get on with their lives.”
Rob spent 20 years as a partner with local personal injury law firm Pamela Coward Higgins, before it merged with Maurice Blackburn in 2009. It was Maurice Blackburn’s history of fighting for the rights of everyday Australians that really engaged Rob’s interest. He is passionate about the firm’s values and history, and is proudly labour oriented in his outlook. He brings resilience, dedication and pride in his work, and the work that Maurice Blackburn does, to all his cases.
