Qualification(s): BA, LLB
Saskia Deerson is a Comcare lawyer practising in Maurice Blackburn’s Melbourne office.
Saskia graduated with honours from Melbourne University in 2012 with Bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Laws, and joined the firm the following year. She was drawn to Comcare through her desire to make a difference in people’s lives and to work in an area where she felt she could be a true advocate for everyday Australians. Saskia is an approachable and dedicated lawyer who particularly enjoys working with clients as part of a smaller, specialised team.
“For me, the most rewarding thing is helping people achieve justice and compensation for serious injuries,” says Saskia.
“Seeing the way injuries and dealing with insurers can negatively affect every aspect of a worker’s life is very challenging – I enjoy overcoming that for my clients and am inspired by their reactions when we achieve a great result.”
Since joining Maurice Blackburn, Saskia has acted in a range of Commonwealth workplace injury matters. She also takes a keen interest in the intersection of complex administration law with workers’ compensation law, and is a highly effective legal researcher who finds the intellectual nature of the work compelling.
Saskia is on an extended leave of absence.
