The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
FAQs - your questions answered
The federal government redress scheme is not expected to begin until 2018. Survivors do not have to wait however as many have legal rights to claim damages in the form of financial compensation directly from the institution where the abuse took place. Each institutional sexual abuse claim is different, and laws vary from state-to-state, so you should seek legal advice to find out your entitlements.
Maurice Blackburn’s dedicated institutional abuse lawyers can represent you in a civil claim for damages. While nothing is able to change the past and stop the abuse that occurred, the financial compensation can go some way towards you living a better life.
Our lawyers can represent you on a no win, no fee basis. This means you do not have to pay our legal fees to represent you unless you are awarded compensation. We have offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane Perth, Adelaide and throughout Australia, so contact us today to find out how we can help with your claim.
