Press Releases and Announcements - 02 October 2009
Six months have passed since the Black Saturday bushfires
devastated parts of Victoria, including Kinglake, an hour from
Melbourne. Maurice Blackburn is helping the community by supporting
the establishment of the Kinglake Ranges
Men's Shed through our Corporate Social Responsibility
Program.
Maurice Blackburn have donated $15,000 to assist the
reconstruction of the Kinglake Ranges Men's shed. Once built, the
shed will be used for a range of community services with a focus on
men's health, mateship, fostering and retaining skills, and
providing support in the aftermath of the bushfires.
Shed coordinator Cris Ruhr said the shed would be built next to
a new emergency services building on the main road in the Kinglake
township. The committee has received a lot of donated building
supplies and, provided the council approves the plans soon, men
from the Kinglake area intend to build the shed themselves by this
Christmas.
