Employees of all levels seek Terri's practical advice and
assistance regarding their employment-related matters.
Navigating the complicated law around issues like redundancy,
restraints of trade, confidentiality arrangements and notice of
termination can be difficult. Terri advises as to those issues,
assists with negotiations and, if litigation becomes necessary,
represents clients in courts and tribunals.
Terri has represented employees, including senior executives, in
both the private and public sectors. Public sector employees have
appreciated her assistance in relation to regulation, rights and
remedies under public service legislation, including public health
sector legislation. Public and private sector employees alike have
valued her expertise in a wide range of employment
matters.
Terri has extensive experience with unfair and unlawful dismissals,
and has regularly represented clients in the Queensland and
Australian Industrial Relations Commissions.
She has experience in assisting employees in relation to their
employment contract claims, including in Queensland's new
employment claims jurisdiction. Terri has also helped
employees understand their rights arising from statutory
entitlements and applicable industrial instruments (like awards and
EBAs), and she can also advise independent contractors in
relation to unfair contracts claims.
Work-related discrimination and sexual harassment claims can be
complicated. Those considering such claims are often anxious to
obtain assistance in understanding the law and the process. Terri
has a long history of providing reliable, practical assistance to
clients in relation to anti-discrimination and sexual harassment
claims, and throughout her career has represented clients in the
Anti-Discrimination Commission and before other relevant
authorities.
Terri is currently working on a case representing Virgin Blue PR executives that lost their jobs for
being pregnant.
Terri is recommended as an Employment Law and
Workplace Relations lawyer for employees in Queensland in Doyles Guide to the Australian Legal
Profession, 2010 Edition.
Terri has practised in Queensland throughout her career and joined
Maurice Blackburn in 2008, leaving partnership at a Queensland firm
to do so. She also practices in the federal courts, predominantly
the Federal Court and the general law division of the Federal
Magistrates Court.
