Lauren O’Neill is a personal injury lawyer in Maurice Blackburn’s Cairns office. She helps people with workers’ compensation, road accident compensation and public liability claims.
Lauren graduated from James Cook University. She was admitted as a solicitor before the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2013 and worked for a small law firm before joining us in 2015. Empathetic and committed to achieving the best possible outcomes, Lauren works with a range of clients to fight for compensation for those who have suffered injuries and damages caused by the negligence or wrongdoing of others.
“I think the most rewarding thing about this type of work is the knowledge that you are making a genuine difference in clients’ lives at a time when they are going through one of the toughest periods that they will experience,” says Lauren.
Led to the practice of law after witnessing the difficulties faced by family and friends who suffered from personal injuries, Lauren is passionate about ensuring that everyone has access to the information and resources to fight for their rights and just entitlements under the law. Spurred on the knowledge that all too often the system is biased in favour of big insurers, she is proud to successfully represent the interests of everyday Australians.
Lauren also believes it is important to contribute to her local community, and she volunteers at the Mackay Community Legal Centre in her spare time.
