Maurice Blackburn Managing Principal and Personal Injuries Accredited Specialist Rod Hodgson has been recognised for Outstanding Achievement by the Queensland Law Society.
Mr Hodgson is a leader of the firm’s Queensland practice, with close to 30 years of experience in helping people seek access to justice, including fighting for the common law rights of injured Queenslanders in the face of significant legislative threats to the state’s workers’ compensation scheme.
Maurice Blackburn’s Senior Principal in Queensland, Peter Koutsoukis, said the firm was very proud of Mr Hodgson’s many achievements and of the contribution he has made to the profession and to clients in standing up for the rights of working people.
“Rod has been a tireless advocate and never gave up in the fight to protect the common law rights of injured Queenslanders,” Mr Koutsoukis said.
“He led the campaign across the Queensland profession to fight for the removal of unfair injury thresholds implemented to our state’s workers’ compensation scheme under the Newman Government.
“He has continued those efforts in advocating for the preservation of common law rights for injured people through the implementation of the National Injury Insurance Scheme (NIIS) for work and road injuries in Queensland.
“Those efforts have been significant, and have played a key role in helping to ensure that Queenslanders continue to have access to the fairest workers’ compensation scheme in the country, as well as one of the fairest NIIS schemes nationally.
“On behalf of our firm I want to congratulate Rod for all his hard work not only for our own clients, but in fighting for the retention and strengthening of rights for all Queenslanders,” he said.
