NZYQ false imprisonment investigation
If you are part of the NZYQ cohort, or are acting for someone who is, you can fill out this form to say you are interested in joining the proposed class action.
NZYQ Criteria
You may be a member of the NZYQ cohort and can register your interest in the proposed class action if all the following apply to you:
- You are a non-citizen and did not have a valid visa when you were held in immigration detention.
- You were held in immigration detention in mainland Australia under sections 189(1) and 196(1) of the Migration Act and detained pending removal from Australia.
- At the time you were detained, you could not practicably be removed from Australia in the near future because:
- you did not have citizenship in any country;
- Australia had found that you needed protection, or
- there was another practical reason that stopped you from being removed (like medical unfitness to travel or psychiatric illness).
