Sara McLaughlin-Barrett

Sara has been one of Australia’s leading Lung Clinical Nurse Consultants for over a decade, providing expert, compassionate care to lung cancer and mesothelioma patients. She has worked in both the public and private sectors and has established multiple lung cancer services across tertiary hospitals in Victoria.

She has expertise and a passion for improving service delivery and patient outcomes. She has been involved in service redesign and has in-depth knowledge of unmet patient and healthcare needs.

Sara independently funded and developed Australia’s first cancer support mobile application, My Cancer Pal, which led to her being awarded CV Magazine’s Businesswoman of the Year in 2016.

She has served on local, national, and international medical and lung oncology boards. She has also been involved in patient advocacy and policy reform and has published research on patient stigma and the importance of lung cancer nurses.

Sara is driven to improve patient outcomes and provide support to patients and their families, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatments, and any procedures they may undergo. She is based in Melbourne but provides care to lung cancer and mesothelioma patients nationwide.

Outside of work, Sara loves camping, cooking, and getting outdoors with her family.
