The class action is on behalf of app developers who sold their apps and in-app content via the App Store and Apple payment solutions, as well as eligible Australian iPhone and iPad users who purchased iOS apps and in-app digital content from iOS apps, from 6 November 2017 to 20 June 2022 (Apple App Store Class Action).
Important Update
The Federal Court of Australia has found in favour of the Class Applicants in the first stage of the class action against Apple.
In the judgment handed down on 12 August 2025, the Federal Court of Australia found that the commissions payable by developers would likely have been materially less absent Apple’s contravening conduct.
Findings in relation to the amount of overcharge resulting from Apple’s contravening conduct will be determined in a second stage hearing of this Proceeding, with questions of loss and damage to Group Members to be dealt with at a later stage.
