Alongside her work as a lawyer at Maurice Blackburn, Leia works as a sessional academic at Deakin University leading seminars on subjects including Torts, Misleading Conduct and Economic Torts, Australian Constitutional Law and Legal Research and Ethics.
“My passion throughout my legal career and studies has been working with people. Having worked in family law, wills and estates, and now public liability, my experience as a lawyer has always been client-focused and driven by the needs of individuals within Australia’s legal system,” says Leia.
During her graduate and post-graduate studies, Leia focused on legal and cultural issues affecting Indigenous Australians and undertook a government funded internship which focused on assistance with the promotion and progression of Native Title claims and other Indigenous Australian affairs.
