Scott grew up in Mackay, attending school at Mackay State High School or as locals call it, Milton Street. He has extensive legal experience in regional Queensland having practiced in Cairns and Mackay with frequent visits to Rockhampton before he moved to Brisbane in 2013. He continues to travel extensively to Maurice Blackburn’s regional network of offices to meet with injured clients and provide specialist legal advice to our regional practitioners.

Scott is a tenacious and driven lawyer with an ability to effectively cut through complex issues and resolve disputes. He has achieved notable successes for clients including:

  • Resolution of a Mackay matter for a client who had been accidentally shot. The client went to two other Mackay firms who advised that they could not assist before Scott successfully prosecuted her claim
  • Resolution of a Rockhampton matter for a significantly brain-injured young man. The settlement achieved was one of the larger settlements achieved for an individual client by Maurice Blackburn in Queensland
  • Resolution of a Brisbane matter for a woman who suffered a psychiatric injury arising out of the murder of her child by a de facto.

"I find it rewarding to use my skills and experience to help people who are injured through no fault of their own. I am committed to achieving successful results for my clients and willing to fight hard to get those results," says Scott.

Scott is a member of the Queensland Law Society and the Australian Lawyers Alliance where he frequently presents papers at conferences.

As part of our complex litigation team, Scott has decades of experience supporting seriously injured clients and their families.

Scott’s hobbies include fishing and crabbing. His first passion (developed in Mackay) is hockey and he has been playing now for over 40 years. He is a life member of Trinity Stingers Hockey in Cairns, and a 10 year Member of Norths Hockey in Brisbane. He has developed, because of this passion, a fairly impressive set of scars and can certainly empathise with persons who suffer knee, back and shoulder pain, all of which are suffered by him during any given hockey season.

He is also a lifetime member of the Cootharinga Society, a Townsville organisation which provides care for the very severely disabled.
