“Having immigrated to Australia as a child from war-torn southern Africa - living first in government migrant housing - these experiences taught me that, with support, damaged lives can be restored,” says Emma.

Emma believes that from a community perspective, people don’t actually need to have anything in common to understand each other. She is known for her warm, compassionate nature, and professional and persistent representation of her clients.

Emma’s experience includes:

  • Invited guest lecturer at various industry and community events, including lawyer best practice training via Legalwise, Law Institute of Victoria and the Leo Cussen Centre for Law. Former weekly legal guest on 3AW radio talkback.

  • Contributing to various industry groups, including the Victorian Law Institute’s Law and Technology Committee, the Australian Lawyers Alliance, and has sat on multiple industry stakeholder committees including Worksafe Legal Liaison Operations Group, Transport Accident Commission Legal Liaison Group and Legislative Advisory Committee.

  • Authoring a custom workflow and precedent suite for the Civil Liability Group (medical law and public liability claims) mapping the requirements for best practice and plain English legal advice in Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic) claims.

  • Acting as scribe, submission editor and coordinator for the Law Institute of Victoria Tort Reform Working Group in preparation of its submissions regarding the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission’s Inquiry into the Wrongs Act 1958.
