Senior Associate
James Marsden Smith

James Marsden-Smith is a Senior Associate in our Dust Diseases team in our Melbourne office.

Qualification(s)

LLB, BA

James has over a decade of experience helping people with work-related injuries and diseases through WorkCover, dust and asbestos litigation. He is honest, direct, analytical and creative in his approach. He thinks big picture and always provides his clients with realistic expectations about outcomes and time frames from the first consultation. James is a fierce advocate for people suffering from silicosis, mesothelioma, cancers and other respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.

“I am proud of the work I do in fighting for the rights of everyday people and achieving fair results. Many of my clients’ lives are turned upside down by their injuries. It brings me immense satisfaction to be able to restore their dignity and sense of normalcy. I'm driven to address the imbalance of power that often arises in these matters, and I strive to remove stress from my clients so they can focus on their health and their families,” says James.

When James isn’t working through complex legal issues, he is kept busy by his rescue greyhound, Noodle.
