“When an employee is mistreated at work, they are often left unaware of, or unable to exercise, their legal rights and entitlements. This can be an incredibly disempowering experience, and one that only serves the employer,” says Mackenzie.

“I work to rectify that power imbalance, using my technical expertise and advocacy skills to ensure that my clients are placed in the best position possible to make informed decisions about their options.”

Mackenzie has assisted workers ranging from lower level employees to senior executives in both the public and private sectors, and across various occupations, including education, health, finance, transport and mining.

Mackenzie has successfully:

  • Obtained a significant settlement for a senior academic whose contract had been cancelled;
  • Defended a senior finance executive against a workplace investigation, allowing them to return to work;
  • Secured the performance of a contract by an employer, on behalf of a union member;
  • Represented two clients in a racial discrimination complaint against a major transport company;
  • Secured backpay and compensation for a number of underpaid workers.

“Mackenzie Wakefield was my hero, a true genius! Mackenzie diligently left no stone unturned, prepared to fight for fair, and that she did. In my conciliation I knew she had my back. Mackenzie was unstoppable, having a natural unwavering talent to achieve our goal. Working with Mackenzie was an honour. The outcome was brilliant.”
