Natasha is a highly effective WorkCover litigator and advocate, with experience in statutory benefits and common law matters across all jurisdictions. She acts for clients who have suffered from an injury, illness or disease arising out of, or suffered in the course of, their employment, and she is deeply committed to protecting the rights of workers.
“I’m really passionate about ensuring my clients have the opportunity to exercise their legal rights and receive their full compensation entitlements,” says Natasha.
“All too often we see employers and insurers trying to negate or circumvent these rights and avoid paying just compensation. Without overstating the case, I’m on a bit of a mission to protect my clients from that sort of injustice.”
Natasha understands that compensation is only part of the journey to recovery and she works to ensure her clients receive every possible form of support. Before joining Maurice Blackburn in 2006, Natasha spent a number of years working as a teacher and an academic in the School of Graduate Studies at Monash University.
“I think my time spent as a teacher really adds something to my ability to understand and help my clients on a personal as well as a legal level. When you’ve been injured at work, you need more than just compensation to get your life back on track. I really believe that a big part of my role is to ensure all the additional forms of support and assistance are available to my clients.”
Natasha is also passionate about social justice. Her high profile cases include acting for the family of a man who was deported to England because he had a criminal record. The man was born in the UK but had lived in Australia since he was a baby. Sadly, he died by suicide on arrival when he was deported to the UK.
