Maurice Blackburn announces legal promotions for 2022

The firm has appointed two new principals: Michaela Bartonkova, who heads the Ipswich office, and Michael Donelly from its Melbourne class actions team.

Workplace injury lawyer Holly Pinnis, and employment and industrial law specialist Michael McIver have been promoted to special counsel.

The promotions also include 14 associates and 13 senior associates, with female lawyers making up 58 per cent of the legal promotions list.

Chief Executive Officer Jacob Varghese congratulated all the lawyers included in the promotions.

“Each promotion is well-earned, with successful applicants living our values, contributing to the success of the firm, and displaying leadership qualities,” he said.

Mr Varghese said the promotions reflected the gender diversity of the firm and recognised staff across a number of states and practice areas.

“Eighteen women and 13 men make up the new promotions, which span our offices across five mainland states and the Northern Territory,” he said.

“The promotions also reflect our talent across all practice areas, including injury law, class actions, super and insurance, abuse, wills and estates, employment law and social justice.”
